Happy Earth Day🌍 Did you know that RAP (Recycled Asphalt Pavement) is one of the most recycled products?! The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Federal Highway Administration, confirm that about 90 million tons of asphalt pavement are reclaimed each year and over 80% of that is recycled. Here at Flanigan we are happy to do our part by processing the reclaimed asphalt and using RAP in our mixes which reduces our carbon footprint! Every year our facilities process 250-300k tons of RAP and concrete. While virgin stone is needed in the mix designs, we can reduce that amount that we use by adding RAP, which means using less raw aggregates from a quarry, helping to save the plant one mix at a time!

Avoid distractions while driving on #OurRoads, especially as you travel through work zones. Stay alert and focused during #NationalWorkZoneAwarenessWeek by leaving distractions behind.
Always have a plan. A work zone often requires lane closures or detours, so be aware of what’s ahead and research your route before you hit the road.
Leaving distance between yourself and other vehicles is especially important in work zones. Maintain your distance and keep safety in mind this #NWZAW.

Today is Go Orange Day which is to proudly show our support of work zone safety by wearing orange during National Work Zone Awareness Week. #NWZAW and Go Orange Day are to honor the construction workers who have lost their lives in work zones and the victims’ families.
It’s with a very heavy heart that we have learned of 3 construction workers that lost their lives this morning on I-83 in York County, Pennsylvania when a large box truck hit a construction vehicle in their work zone and the box truck continued into the construction zone killing the 3 workers. This senseless tragedy yet again enforces this years theme “Work Zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever”, as the actions from today have left 3 workers that will not be coming home tonight and 3 families whose worlds have been forever changed.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families & friends, their employer, and coworkers during this horrific time.

Today kicks off National Work Zone Awareness Week. Workers being struck by vehicles or mobile equipment on a construction job site leads to many work zone injuries and fatalities.
Here are some work zone facts:
🚧During peak construction season, approximately 20% of our nation’s highway system is under construction with more than 3,000 work zones.
🚧Approximately 12 billion vehicle miles of travel a year will be through active work zones.
🚧Motorists can expect to encounter an active work zone 1 out of every 100 miles driven on the nation’s highway system.
🚧More than 40,000 people are injured each year because of crashes in work zones:
🦺One work zone fatality every 8 hours – 3 per day; and
🦺One work zone injury every 9 minutes – 160 per day.
🦺Note these crashes, fatalities, and injuries involve workers. They also include drivers of the vehicles who were involved in the crashes with other vehicles.
Please remember- Work Zones are temporary. Actions behind the wheel can last forever. #slowdown and #watchforus while approaching and passing a work zone, so that everyone can get home safe, every day. #NWZAW #WorkZoneSafety ... See MoreSee Less
