MIDFIELD CARGO EXPANSION AT BWI AIRPORT

PROJECT DETAILS

P. Flanigan crews did an amazing job at BWI on the Midfield Cargo Expansion project. The concrete crew placed 28,705 SY of concrete in 108 days, and the entire job encompassed 13,000 LF of pipe/conduit, 730 LF of trench drain, 11 utility structures, 15,500 CY of excavation, 29,000 SY of stone, and 8.500 tons of asphalt.

BEFORE THE CONCRETE

For this project, there was excavation, stone and HMA placement before the concrete work. The combined effort and dedication of P. Flanigan and Sons, B&J Sweeping, Development Facilitators, East Coast Concrete Specialties, Enterprise Electric, hi-Lite Airfield Services, Parson’s Transportation Group, Stella May Contracting, ECLS, and Triangle Surveys produced a successful, high quality project under an expedited schedule.

John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year

We were honored to receive the International Partnering Institute “John L. Martin Partnered Project of the Year” award for the Mid-Field Cargo Apron Improvements project that we successfully delivered ahead of schedule to BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

This project dramatically increased the capacity for cargo aircraft at BWI. The need to complete before last year’s shopping season made for a very challenging schedule. Utilizing a partnering approach was essential for the success of the project. It was very exciting to be recognized at the national level and we look forward to preaching the benefits of partnering on all of our projects large and small.
